Introduction to Archery

Introductory Sessions Schedule

An Introduction to Archery session is a fun introduction to the sport of archery.

This session is designed to allow you to decide if the sport is suitable for you before you commit to a longer Archery Beginner's Course.  All equipment is provided, and the 2-hour session is led by accredited Archery Australia Coaches.

We will teach you to shoot a recurve bow. You will be fitted with the right sized bow and other gear, given instructions on safety, how to shoot the bow properly and then you will shoot at 10m.

We have bows that are suitable for right and left-handed archers and have light enough draw weight for most beginners.

Available Introduction to Archery sessions are listed here and on the Home page under Illawarra Archers Events. Click on the link to register and pay.

There is generally a session held every one to two months on the first Sunday in the month. From time to time, additional sessions may be arranged. For example, mid-week during school holidays.

Scheduling depends upon demand and the availability of our volunteer coaches. If none are listed, please check the website now and again for future available sessions.

You must be at least 10 years old and must be physically fit enough to use the equipment. You must be able to concentrate for the duration of the session. A child under the age of 14 must be under the supervision of a responsible adult.

Attendance at an Introduction to Archery session is compulsory to attend a Beginner's Course.

Cost: $40 per archer plus a small booking fee (Minimum age 10).
