We are experimenting with a new form of competition in our regular Tuesday Twilight Rounds.
Each Tuesday before the comp, registered archers are randomly assigned to a team of 2 to 4 archers. Any late arrivals or no-shows are then added to or removed from a team. Then, each team shoots together on the same target butt (with some modification for teams that combine compound and non-compound archers), entering their scores as usual in iScored. When the round is complete, the individual handicapped scores are then averaged for the team score, and this team score is assigned to each individual team member for a running total over the season.
The main goal for this format is to get archers socialising with other archers they may not have spent much time with and use this to, as well as to build an environment that includes shared goals and friendly competition to offset the usual strict focus on individual performance.
We are still working on the concept and presentation, but for an initial look, below is the teams report, and the individual leaderboard from Oct 13.
The results for our very first team round are shown below. Thanks to everyone who took part in the launch!
in tonights case, the women retired after the first end due to the rain. So, their team and as individualsĀ only received the score up to the point where they withdrew.
